PLOT SUMMARY: Nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be – she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs from the past.

WHERE TO WATCH: Peacock

JAIMEE’S NOTES: This is such a good movie and one that always comes very highly recommended by me. So many great people in this movie including Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Adam Brody, Jennifer Coolidge, Laverne Cox, Molly Shannon and Carey Mulligan. The director of this movie also actually directed one of our favorites…maybe?….Saltburn. We have a 30 year old woman named Cassie, a medical school dropout who works at a coffee shop and in her free time goes to bars and pretends she’s drunk so she can confront men who try to take advantage of her sexually. Over time it’s revealed that she quit medical school after the rape of her lifelong best friend, Nina, who also dropped out and subsequently committed suicide when her rapist, Al Monroe, was not punished. Cassie is out for revenge and everyone in her life is very worried about her. One day she runs into an old medical school classmate, Ryan. They start going out and she realizes he still has contact with some of the other people they went to school with and who she blames for Nina’s suicide, including Al. Cassie decides to target these people instead of random men. She really does a number on their old friend Madison, the dean of their school, and also Al’s lawyer. She visits Nina’s mother and she tells Cassie that she needs to move on. Cassie and Ryan start dating for real and she focuses on that but can she really get over it? Especially when Al is out here happily preparing for his wedding. This is a very emotional movie and you can feel Cassie’s sadness and how fiercely she loves and misses Nina. Also, great music. Where else can you get a montage to Stars are Blind by Paris Hilton? A banger. Don’t skip this one!!
